For me, Africa is an inner geography, a sacred space of memory, where “home” means a perfect balance between humanity, nature, and animals. It is a harmony that makes you feel, with every beat of your heart, that the beauty of nature—its flora and fauna—is something divine.

From this deep respect for Africa’s balance came my novel, The Last White Lion — the story of a man who comes to realise that saving this sacred harmony is, in truth, the saving of a part of his own humanity.

Each time I return, I rediscover myself, because Africa has shown me who I am and how I am connected to all that exists. It is the homeland of my forgotten roots, the only place where the word “home” carries the meaning of wholeness.

„And every time I go back, I feel as though I am meeting once again the finest version of my inner consciousness.” — Lucian Ciuchiță, interview fragment

Je suis Imani – I Want to Live!

The true story of a baby elephant whose mother was killed by poachers. Alone and gravely wounded after a brutal attack by hyenas, she fled across the African wilderness with every last ounce of strength she had. Exhausted, starving, terrified, and barely able to stand, she finally reached an elephant sanctuary. There, with the last spark of hope still alive within her, she seemed to utter a single plea:“I want to live!” „I want to live!”
They named her Imani — Faith in Swahili.
